Sentence starters can help students who struggle to move from topic to claim. For example, "Although music appears to unite the characters, Patchett suggests that..." pushes a writer toward complication. Offer a few such frames, but encourage students to adapt them so their voice still comes through.

Check That the Body Follows the Thesis
