Sophistication gets over-awarded when a paper simply sounds polished. Fluent sentences and confident vocabulary are not the same as a nuanced argument. The point belongs to essays that handle tension or contradiction in the text, such as Marlow's condemnation of the Company alongside his own compromised position.
